Notice to all those in the world (namely, a number of ignorant Americans) who are too lazy to appreciate the finer nuances of "masculinity" and "femininity" in language:
A woman has a fiance.
A man has a fiancee.
RIGHT WAY: Kellie and her fiance, Paul...
WRONG WAY: Kellie and her fiancee, Paul...
The extra 'e' at the end means you're talking about a girl. So either there are a lot of engaged lesbians out there with really masculine names, or there are a lot of engaged men unwittingly being referred to as women because people are either too stupid or too lazy to bother making the distinction.
Curse language. Why do we even have it, nobody knows how to use it anyway. :P
