Perhaps, someday, eventually, I will scan in some new photos. And maybe some old ones too. I have quadrillions of pictures I could be sharing, but I never do seem to find the time to get them done. Although at the moment, I do have an excuse, namely that I have no internet access at the apartment. Lightning hit... something, either my building or a telephone pole or something nearby last week, shutting off power and frying my modem in the process. Luckily, just the modem. But that still means I have to go out and buy a new modem. Oh the things I'd rather be spending that money on.

But, if I did have a working modem, I might scan in the cute preggy pictures of my Mahyee friend from June, and the weird ones of me and Joe with stamps stuck to our foreheads, and maybe the ones from our adventure at Darien Lake this weekend. :)

Darien Lake is a mighty fine place to spend a day, especially a lovely sunny day like Saturday! A couple of degrees warmer might have been nice, but honestly we couldn't really have asked for better weather. Joe had not been there in... 10 years, I think (only 3 for me) so there was lots to show him. :) (Like most of the roller coasters! Last time he went there were only 2!) I brought him on Superman and he actually enjoyed it, and he got me on Grizzly Run for the first time ever, which was wet! But very fun. ;)

Highlights: Saw some Looney Toons, finally! I've been there at least twice since it became Six Flags but never saw a Looney Toon! Joe took my picture with Sylvester (Kristie would be proud). :)

Joe's fascination with Superman's magnetic brakes. ;) Also, seeing the pictures they take of us on the ride -- he looked so calm and casual like he was just in the middle of conversation, rather than on a gigantic roller coaster. Hehe. :)

I kept telling Joe that the Predator really isn't as bad as everyone says. Finally coaxed him onto it. I was wrong. It ate us. Seriously though... I really DON'T remember it being that bad!

We decided to try the new water ride (new since I was last there anyway), Shipwreck Falls. The description on the brochure promised a big splash with 20-ft wave or something. It was lame though. I mean, lame. You go up a hill, around and down, get a little wet, and that's it. Not much of a thrill. We managed to screw it up for the next group through though, they got stuck on the hill. ;)

The log flume remains one of my all-time favorite rides. We had to go on that after Lame-wreck Falls just to reinforce that fact. ;) We sang "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" [very loudly!] as our log floated along. :D (Actually, we sang that for most of the day. ;) Eventually maybe we'll even learn the words...)

Last ride before lunch was Grizzly Run (figured we'd get soaked and then run out and change). First time in all my years going to the park that I've ever been on it. I hit every waterfall and we both got completely soaked. Loved it. :D Stupid kids ahead of us in line though, throwing rocks and being idiots. Parental supervision folks...

Decided to take turns changing in the car while the other one stood guard. I got halfway done and then the family from the car next to us came out for a parking-lot picnic lunch. Luckily I had a towel to cover up my naked lower half. :P We had to wait until they finally left before we could finish changing and head back in. (And they were slow!) (Although, I was slow myself, or I prob would have been done by the time they got there.)

Note: sunscreen smudges off the re-entry stamp they put on your hand. Luckily the lady was nice and let us back in!

We decided to ride the Mind Eraser in the very front seats. That's the coaster that's suspended under the tracks so if you're in the front there's literally nothing in front of you. It was a long wait, during which I managed to drop my hat over the fence where we weren't allowed to retrieve it. Also one of the trains had half the seats roped off due to malfunctioning safety harnesses. Which made us feel safe. But it was so worth the wait!! I love Superman but seriously I think Mind Eraser might have edged it out. Only place to ride is in the very front of course. But it is awesome. :D

Fried dough is yummy. :) The American Pops show was stupid (how can you showcase 5 decades of pop music without Michael Jackson?) but before it started we all sang along to the Grease soundtrack and that was fun. ;) Hehehe... "the show will be starting in just under a few minutes!" Also saw the Batman show, which is also fairly lame (and I'm surprised we didn't all get carbon monoxide poisoning) but compared to the other show, Batman is award-winning. ;)

We got a car to ourselves on the Ferris Wheel. Some idiots in line again, drinking and smoking in spite of the attendant who kept saying "You may not drink or smoke in line!" People can be so obnoxious. :P But, it was much cool looking out at the view from the top of the wheel. I always thought it was funny how they kerplunked the amusement park smack dab in the middle of farm country. ;)

I got to drive Joe around a loop on the Tin Lizzys. I'm a terrible driver. ;) Those darn things don't turn though!

We did the Viper, because you can't go to Darien Lake and NOT ride the Viper. It's a classic! Joe also informed me that the Viper was built in 1986, which makes it the same age as Curtis. Which is kinda scary if you think about it. :) We yelled "Holy Crap!" and screamed a lot (I am quite an accomplished screamer when it comes to rides :D) and posed for the camera. ;) I love the Viper. It might not be the biggest or the fastest but it's always a good time. :)

Before we left we decided to do the Mind Eraser one last time, so that was another long wait. By this time they'd finally removed the second train altogether so it was twice as long to wait. But worth it. ;) A fight broke out in line and a bunch of not-very-threatening-looking security people had to come and break things up. Haha, and when everyone realized there was a fight and started climbing on the rails for a better look, the attendant just kept yelling "Get off the railings!" That was kinda funny. ;)

After Mind Eraser we went to lost and found to pick up my hat... which wasn't there... so Joe ran back to Mind Eraser to see if they had it. Which they did. :) So I still have my Pepe le Pew hat!

On our way home we bought a pizza (it was going on 11 and we hadn't had dinner yet!) and proceeded to eat the entire thing. And I swear it is the best pizza I've ever had. And considering I felt carsick and not hungry at all for the entire drive home... that is saying something! :)

I think I must be going soft or something, because I don't remember rides affecting me that much in years past, but this time I had a headache for most of the day. :( In spite of that though, I had an awesome time with my honey! And besides, what fun is a theme park if your brain doesn't get rattled around! :)
