1. Lately John's favorite thing to say is "duck a duck a duck a duck". I don't think he's actually talking about a duck, although he did say it in the tub last night with his rubber duck. But mostly I think it's just a fun sound to make.
2. Last Friday I was having grapefruit, and Joe and I thought it would be funny to give John a piece and see his reaction. We expected all kinds of funny faces, but it wasn't to be -- John loved it! (Granted, I'd put sugar on it already, but still!) I gave him 2 or 3 sections, then squeezed some of the juice into his cup, and he drank it all down!
3. On Sunday we went out to breakfast. At the end of the meal, I took John out of the high chair and sat him on the table to get his snowsuit on. He picked up a spoon, dipped it into my [empty] juice glass, and then put it in my mouth. He definitely knows how that's supposed to work!
4. For all his baby smarts, John for some reason has a tendency to step on whatever he wants to pick up, and then attempt to lift it (while standing on it). And then get frustrated that he can't get it. *boggle*
5. John knows how to climb stairs. Not that he can do it on his own yet, of course. But if I am holding his hands, he'll walk over to the staircase and lift one little foot as high as he can. It's rather adorable actually.
