Bookworm

John hasn't touched his toys in a few days. Right now it is all about books. I think this is a good thing, although it does get somewhat tiresome when it is always the same ones. He is so adorable though. He'll pick a book (off the floor more often than not, because another thing that's tiresome is constantly putting the books back in the basket, so after awhile I quit bothering). I'll ask him if he wants to read it, and he'll get very excited, making that crinkly smile-face and grunting and reaching out to be picked up. So I lift him to my lap, and we read. He points to certain things in the pictures (in Goodnight Moon, always the red balloon; in But Not The Hippopotamus he actually points to the hippo; and of course he can do all the little activities in Pat the Bunny) and turns the pages. Then I put him down and he picks another one. Rinse. Repeat. The cover of Pat the Bunny has fallen off from all the love.

I keep waiting for the scale to show 17lbs 6oz when I weigh him at night, so I can come on here and announce that he has doubled his birth weight. But he seems to be stuck at 17lb 4oz, probably due to being sick yet again. (Just a cold this time, at least. A very boogery one.) Anyway, he's pretty much doubled his birth weight. :) He seems to be growing right through his 9 month clothes. He's in a mix of 9 and 12 right now, even in pants (the cloth diapers are helping there though!). I just moved him up to the bigger cloth diapers last week and packed away the prefolds he's been wearing since birth.

I'm starting to plan his first birthday party. Nothing too involved, mostly just trying to decide what kind of cake and how to decorate it. It is still two months away, but I know it will be here before I know it. Somehow he's already 10 months old. How did that happen?
