Life as Mom, continued

- I forgot to mention the crying episodes. How could I forget those? Sappy music, TV shows, watching Joe with John, just looking at John, or nothing at all would have me weeping uncontrollably. The worst one was the night before we came home from the hospital. Joe had put on some Enya to relax us so we could catch a few winks between feedings, but the music got me blubbering about how short the time is, how fast everything goes by, how all this (John's childhood, our lives, who knows) would be over in the blink of an eye. Joe said, "Relax, he's only 4 days old!" He had a point. I think I sobbed for over an hour that time. :-P Luckily, after 2 weeks the crying episodes vanished as mysteriously as they had appeared.
- I have been asked whether breastfeeding makes me feel like a cow. No, it makes me feel like a mother. Using my breast pump today for the first time, however... MOO.
- What part of your body do you use to sneeze? Six weeks ago I would have said my nose. Now I know sneezing comes from your abdomen. So does coughing and blowing your nose.
- Clothes are so darn expensive. It was bad enough I had to buy a whole new wardrobe to get through pregnancy, now I have to outfit myself for breastfeeding. At least around home I can get away with regular PRE-PREGNANCY shirts.
- I weigh less than my husband again. It is a good feeling.
