Back to Happy

Lest we think we are special, John spends at least as much (if not more) time talking and smiling at his toys than at either of us.

The mobility thing appears not to have been a fluke, although I don't think he is necessarily going anywhere on purpose. He's just learning how his body works and that he can tuck his legs up and then push off. I don't think it counts as crawling or creeping... I'd call it "inchworming" if anything. It's pretty funny. He demonstrated for Sean and Emily when we went to visit them on Thursday.

We got to meet Sean and Emily's newest family member as well. Nicholas is 3 weeks younger than John. It is amazing how much smaller he seemed. Did John grow that much in 3 weeks, or is he just a big kid? It was fun to visit though, compare notes about how little sleep we're all getting, and watch their two preschoolers interact with the babies.

Thursday night John slept from 8:30pm to 4:30am. Eight hours. That, however, appears to have been a fluke.

Baby clothes sizing is such a random subjective thing. I think it's safe to say that we're out of newborn sizes at this point, but then again whenever I say that, I find out he still fits in them. Some things that were supposedly 0-3 months never fit at all. Mostly the 0-3 months stuff is fitting him now, but onesies are seeming a bit small. Not sure if he's got a long torso or what, but it's getting hard to snap them... add the bulk of cloth diapers and forget snapping. Pants and regular shirts fit fine though. Today he's in a 3-6 month outfit, but most of the 3-6 month stuff is still too big. What a pain. Also annoying? This month's weather. Almost all his stuff is short-sleeved and it's been a little too cold for such things. Hopefully now that it's almost June it'll warm up a bit. :-P

The cat is sick again. Not sure what his problem is (then again we don't know what was wrong with him the last time he was sick either) but we're hoping it passes quickly and we won't have to bring him to the vet.
