Things that make you go

mmmm. :)

I love bright sunny days of late summer, when it's cool enough to be comfortable in long sleeves, when the air starts to make you think of state fairs and back to school, of vegetable gardens and ripe red apples. The lazy days are coming to an end and there's a home-y comfortable feeling about that, a return to the ordinary. Fall is not quite here but you can smell it just around the corner. I love the end of summer.

I love the silent countdowns in my head. Five days until the State Fair. Fourteen days until Labor Day. A wedding in twenty six days, a birthday in twenty seven, and a baby due somewhere in there. With another wedding, another baby to come the following month.

I love clean laundry fresh from the dryer. I love Gain laundry detergent and Snuggle dryer sheets.

I love Tupperware.

I love my Church. I do. I love the things it stands for and believes in. I love the sacrament of Reconciliation. I love reading the words of my patron saint. I love the magnificent buildings that have been built for the glory of God. I love knowing almost all the words at Mass. I love singing in Latin. I love homilies that speak right to me. I love the word "homily".

I love knowing that what I'm doing is right.

I love working on my scrapbook. Starting with some blank pieces of colored paper and arranging photographs, ticket stubs, programs into collected works of art. I love cropping photos and preserving memories for a later time. I love when it all comes together the way I want. I love glancing through pages previously completed.

I love writing. To start with nothing and fit words together into shapes and stories and characters. To create believable people out of sentence fragments.

I love emails written in love and encouragement, flowers for no reason, singing two-part harmony in the car (as we walk, waiting in line, on rides), driving to the city to look at old buildings. I love heart-to-heart conversations that last longer than the walking route. I love inquiring about catering at the wrong Sheraton. I love missing part of the Olympics to watch Behind the Music: Guns n Roses.

I love knowing myself well enough to know what I need.

I love my life, even when sometimes I'm nervous about what's coming next. That can only mean it's something great.
