An addition to my birthday list:
I would like to have my mix tape in cd form, so that I can play it in my new car with the cd player. Including the songs that I really don't like and always fast-forward through.
Although I have to admit... skipping tracks on a cd is just not nearly as satisfying as fast-forwarding on a tape, trying to time it right so that you stop it just before the next song starts, but usually missing and having to rewind, all the while attempting to remain on the road and avoid oncoming traffic. (Because no, AMS does NOT always work.) Technology is cool and all but sometimes don't you just miss the low-tech days? ;)
Speaking of which, you may have noticed that the specs on my new car include MANUAL windows. I fear power windows. This fear stems from the summer of 2002, living in Fredonia with Adam, whose car had broken power windows. The one on the driver's side would not stay up on its own so it was duct-taped closed, but then of course he couldn't OPEN it, so when taking the Thruway he was forced to open his door at every tollbooth. I do not want this to happen to me.
Other reasons to dislike power windows: I remember a story from long ago about someone who used the button to raise the rear window, and a child ended up being decapitated. Also, having to have the keys in order to raise or lower the windows. Or suppose I somehow find myself submerged in Lake Erie, I won't want the windows shorting out!
Yes everyone, power windows are indeed evil. They are disguised as a convenience, but come on, how hard is it to crank open the window? I mean really. So yes, humor my paranoia. Down with power windows! Vive la window crank!
And besides... window cranks are cheaper anyway. :D
Sometimes I may be too practical for my own good.
