Six Months Old

The first year is halfway behind us; from here on out he's closer to being a year old than a newborn. It's flown by so far and likely will continue to fly.

We had our 6 month visit yesterday (still with the old pediatrician; I have an interview next week with another one, and then we'll decide). Master John is now 27 inches tall and tipping the scales at 14 pounds 5 ounces. That puts him back up to the tenth percentile in weight, and the doctor was pleased with that. I was pleased because we upped his weight gain without having to supplement with formula. Other than that there isn't much to report from a health standpoint... he's healthy, he's happy, he's thriving.

On the food front, he's now tried avocado, which he's not overly fond of. Part of the problem I think is that we don't eat avocado so I don't know what I'm looking for and I picked a bad one. Then again, Joe and I don't eat bananas but John LOVES them. He grunts for more while I refill the spoon and then grabs it as soon as it comes back. He usually ends up with banana everywhere. Also, I've discovered that banana stains. So all those cute bibs I had are not as cute as they were... but I guess that's what they were made for. ;-)

I was sorting through baby clothes last night, taking inventory of the next size up, and came across some hats, that unfortunately he probably won't get to wear since summer's over now. Cute though, eh?

I'm 6 months old!
