John knows his name now. I wasn't sure at first, thinking maybe it was just the tone of voice that would make him look up. But today I tried calling him by several different names and he ignored me until I said "John". That is kinda cool. I'd half-wondered if he'd ever figure it out since we have so many nicknames for him; somewhat the way that Asher only answers to "Kitty". Luckily, the baby is smarter than the cat. ;-)
He recognizes "milk" both by word and sign, responding with a huge smile. He also seems to recognize "brush teeth"; at least, if he's been whining while I put his pj's on, he'll quiet down when I say we have to brush our teeth, and open his mouth for me. I'm not sure if he knows any other signs or words yet. Nothing he feels passionate about anyway. It will be cool when he starts signing back!
