Something More Cheerful

The depressing month of January is finally over and February is underway! For some reason it seemed like a lot of people died last month, and it just wasn't very cheerful. However, there are some bits of good news from January that I haven't shared yet:
- Angela and Mike are engaged!
- Tim and Cathy have a new baby coming!
- Joe had a happy birthday! ;-)

Now that February is here, things are looking up (in spite of the fact that it is gloomy and snowing outside, but that is neither here nor there). First of all, being that today is Groundhog Day, I'm happy to report that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, so supposedly we will have an early spring! (I'm ignoring the fact that our local groundhog Dunkirk Dave DID see his shadow, indicating 6 more weeks of winter. :-P) Joe has a long weekend coming up next week, my company is having a winter party, Valentine's Day is nearly here, Molly's little Cora is turning one, and Joe's squash season will be over at the end of the month. Many things to love about February.

As of tomorrow, Joe and I have been engaged for a whole year! But more importantly, we are down to four months and one week left until our wedding. Needless to say, planning has kicked into a higher gear. All this week it seems I've been on the phone with hotels, looking at setting aside rooms for our out-of-town guests (that is, my entire side of the guest list). We [mostly] picked out the music for our Nuptial Mass, and are meeting with our pianist/cantor next week to finalize it. We're meeting with the reception place next week to discuss details, finalize the menu, ask some questions, make sure we have the correct price quote, etc. We'll probably also be going to the jeweler's to pick out Joe's ring. As you can see I've pretty much scheduled Joe's entire "weekend off" with wedding-related gallavanting, but I don't think he minds (too much). ;-)

Our invitations are in the final design stages, and we're so excited about them. Joe's brother John designed them and they are AWESOME. I can't wait to see the finished product. I'll probably be spending most of next month filling them all out to get ready for mailing. Once the invitations are done, we'll probably be asking John to help us with the favors too. ;-)

So, maybe there will be surgery coming up in March, and maybe that won't be much fun. But at least February should be a good month. :-D
