The sun is shining again today. It's cold and there's still snow on the ground, but it's beautiful. I feel like I do on those bright summer days when I'm sitting in my office, staring out the window and longing to be part of the rest of the world. But, at least I am sort of getting some work done.
Lent is here. Funny that a penitential season of the year would be one of my favorites, but there you go. Must be the excitement of knowing that Easter is just around the corner. Wednesday evening at Ash Wednesday Mass, Fr. Sean made the funniest slip-up as he went to bless the "asses". :-D This year's RCIA candidates will have the Rite of Election this Sunday. I'm so excited for them.
I'm giving up my snooze button for Lent. Unfortunately I am not off to a good start. I should revise and say that I'm giving up my snooze button AND resolving to get up the first time my alarm beeps. So far this week: Wednesday, did not hit the button, went back to bed anyway and overslept; Thursday, was so tired I went ahead and hit the button as normal; Friday, must have hit it once before waking up (because when I woke up the time was 6:39), did not hit it again, but went back to bed and laid (awake) in my warm coccoon for an hour. Sooo... next week, try try again.
Today is my supervisor Greg's last day working here. I suppose this isn't really something to smile about, since I am sad to see him go. But I am happy for him that he'll get to do something new (and he seems excited about it).
The Sabres won last night. I'm extraordinarily jealous of anyone who actually got to SEE the game, as I was stuck listening to it on the radio. But even that was exciting!
I'm totally in love with our wedding invitations. I'm getting excited about the little wedding details that are slowly starting to come together. Maybe one of these days we'll actually even get married. Only 106 days left until June 9. :-)
I also did my taxes the other day (although I still have to mail them in) and found out how much I'm getting back. Something else to look forward to.
It's been about 3 weeks since I made the jewelry resolution, and I'm proud to say I've been sticking with it. I've had earrings in every day with only a few exceptions, and so far I haven't worn the same pair twice. Today I have silver leaves in. Maybe hoping for spring? I think my earlobes are finally healed and used to the idea, as well.
Someone in a nearby office is eating something that smells very good.
Two and a half weeks until surgery. But it's not worth worrying about now. :-)
