This morning I woke up and the sky was blue, sun shining. After 3 days of non-stop lake effect snow, which is piled up 2 or 3 feet deep and drifted over my head. The trees are snow-covered and it looks like a Christmas card. Gorgeous. I don't think I'd ever want to live somewhere that doesn't have 4 seasons.
Being snowbound this weekend, I took the opportunity to move all of my jewelry from my mother's old jewelry box back to my old jewelry box. I don't remember when exactly I inherited mom's old jewelry box in the first place, but I realized a year or two ago that it really is just too big for what I need. So, I switched back. In the process, even while purging a bunch of stuff, I realized that I have a fair amount of jewelry and I never wear any of it. Especially earrings. I don't even remember when I last wore earrings regularly; since high school I'd say I've put them in once or twice a year at most, for special occasions. Not to mention my small collection of "fancy" necklaces and bracelets (most of which need cleaning). So I made myself a "new year's resolution" to make better use of it. Sunday afternoon I re-pierced my ears with blue happy faces, today I have silver stars in. I forgot how much fun earrings can be. :-)
