These People Have No Shame

Louisiana and Mississippi are devastated in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Entire towns have literally been destroyed. Hundreds are dead, thousands have lost everything they have. New Orleans is a lake, people are still stranded on rooftops, rescue and evacuation efforts are being hampered by despicable looting and violence, there's no food, no water, extreme heat, dead bodies and raw sewage contaminating all the streets, few roads in or out of the city, hospitals full of patients with nowhere to go and no way to get there. Twenty thousand people in a hot, smelly, overcrowded stadium facing six months or more living at a stadium in Houston. A national oil crisis starting to hit. A man in Mississippi killed his sister over a bag of ice. People all over the country unable to contact their loved ones, wondering, worrying. It's mayhem.

All over our wonderful country, relief efforts are starting up, taking up collections for food, water, clothing, housing, medical care, whatever we can do to help. Americans are good-hearted, giving people. We really do care.

And then of course there's Planned Parenthood, who are offering free birth control or so-called 'emergency contraception' to all those poor women who survived the hurricane and now have nowhere to turn for their (anti)reproductive needs.

Unbelievable.

May God bless the people who are suffering and hold them in the palm of His Hand. Our prayers are with them.
