Modesty Zone is an informal community of young women who don’t have a voice in the mainstream media. It was founded in 2005 by Wendy Shalit.
Whether you’re a virgin waiting until marriage, or just against casual sex more generally, you can find a safe harbor here to share your ideals, interests, and goals for the future.
Join forces with other young women who are tired of power struggles between the sexes. Believe in the possibility of real intimacy.
Very cool. I have been following the book club exchange "Pornified" and "Female Chauvinist Pigs" on Slate this week and really enjoyed reading Wendy's perspective. (Have not read the books but they do sound interesting.) I like Slate, although I do not agree with all of the points of view, because at least they are mostly well-thought-out, and usually they'll give all sides a fair shake. I can respect even those I disagree with. But it's also refreshing to come across someone who shares some of my values. :)
