Applause

John has learned a new skill, and I am wishing for the camera so I can record and share it. He is so darn cute!

We brought him in for his 12-month pictures last night. I wish my personality was a little less timid and more decisive sometimes. The photographers at JCP do some gimmicky things for first birthday, which I didn't want, but let her do anyway. First was posing him with a fake birthday cake and candle -- not terrible, but not really natural. Next was the "I am 1" which I knew was coming (*growls at self for not stopping it*). They take a picture of your baby with a wooden letter "I", then the word "am", then the number "1". The problem being that you can really only buy them as a set, so if one picture is bad then the whole set sucks (or as in our case, the baby is completely uncooperative with the letter "I" and you get no shots). And the other problem, if one of the pictures is great you can't get it by itself, because people are going to see it on your wall and wonder why your beautiful baby is sitting with the word "am". (And again, this happened to us.) Ah well. We did get some nice ones, and I bought too many of them, as usual. But as I reminded Joe while I was buying them, I did manage to give away almost all of the ones from last fall. So hopefully we'll find takers this time too. :)
