Maiden voyage of the new stroller was last week, photo is posted. :) John really seemed to enjoy facing out and being able to look around. He also seems to enjoy grabbing things as we go by, meaning I must be careful how close we get...
Amusing anecdote of last week: Getting back in the car after strolling around the mall. I set John in his car seat, got in the back seat next to him and closed the door, because it was cold and I didn't want him to freeze while I strapped him in. I got him all buckled, went to get out and then remembered that Joe had turned on the child locks... meaning you can't open the back door from the inside. It must have been really funny to watch me crawling around the car seat and shimmying into the front. :-P
Joe went to Seattle for a conference, so John and I headed out to visit my parents. There was a foot and a half of snow when we arrived. (And those wondering what he thought of the snow, it was the nasty heavy wet snow that instantly soaks you to the bone, so he didn't get to experience snow this time. Not like we won't have plenty of opportunity this winter!) John was a little nervous when we got there, and he didn't remember the dog so the barking was pretty scary the first day. He pretty much didn't want me out of his sight the entire visit, but as long as I was around he was his usual cheery self. He got to see Grandma and Grandpa, Great-Grandma, Aunt Molly and Eva and Cora, and Sarah. On Halloween he was a cute little teddy bear for Grandpa and Great-Grandma (my parents don't get any trick-or-treaters out in the boonies, although they always have candy "just in case").
New foods in the past week or so: peas, Cheerios, squash, and peaches. All of which have been happily accepted... so far the kid seems not to be picky. He is demanding though, smacking his hands on the high chair tray or table to let you know he wants more.
We picked Joe up at the airport and John is happy to have his Daddy back. And this week we're right back into the regular schedule. Except that we have a cat with issues (sigh), and John is also dealing with his first cold. He's been congested for a few days and today was running a low temperature (and yes I called the doctor, just to make sure he didn't need to go in, which he doesn't, so far). It doesn't seem to be bothering him, he's still pretty much his regular grinning happy busy chatty adorable self. :-)
And that's about all the news there is around here.
