Les Nouvelles

When I announced that John had discovered his feet, "noticed" probably would have been a better way of putting it. What he really discovered were his hands. He brings them together now, grabs his fingers with the opposite hand, and has gotten much more skilled at grasping things. He'll reach for just about anything you put in front of his chest, with both hands.

Last Thursday, he laughed while we were giving him a bath. But he hasn't done it since.

This past weekend we noticed that his head control is suddenly a lot better when he's on his tummy. He'll hold his head right up and look around, where before he would just let it flop onto the floor and cry. I think this might have been helped by doing "sit-ups" with Daddy. Joe takes both his hands and pulls him up to sitting, and you can really see that his neck is getting stronger. His head doesn't flop back as much as it did at first.

Tonight when we got home, we gave John some tummy time (he hadn't had much over the weekend) and he turned over onto his back! I wondered if it was a fluke (maybe his arm had been caught underneath him or something) so Joe flipped him back over, and he rolled again, and two more times!

He's sleeping 10 hours at night now, and we started putting him to bed in his crib a couple of weeks ago, instead of in the bassinet in our room.

We had a busy weekend. John got to meet all kinds of great-aunts and great-uncles and cousins from all over. He showed off his little smile for his grandparents and was mostly a good sport about being passed around. He went to Niagara Falls for the first time, left the country for the first time, went out on a dock for the first time, went to his first wedding and danced with Aunt Dotty.

Also, my little sister got married. :)
