The Weeks Go On

For the curious, my birthday surprise last week ended up being dinner at Skylon! We ate in the revolving dining room and had way too much yummy food. Niagara Falls is pretty much my favorite place in the world, so it was really a wonderful surprise, and nice to have an evening date with my cute husband! Only downside (for those thinking that they, too, must now go there) was the cost. Since the Canadian dollar is worth the same as the US dollar now, there is no money to save on the exchange rate. This dinner was the most expensive one we have ever eaten, blowing our previous record-holder (set on our honeymoon) to bits. And we don't even drink alcohol. o_O

The following day I got to leave work early (yay!) for my OB appointment. It was pretty quick and uneventful, I turned down yet another set of tests for Down Syndrome and answered some questions about my hips and legs as regards giving birth. I did get to hear the baby's heartbeat which was neat. It is funny... obviously I know I am pregnant. Yet, I go in and hear this little heartbeat coming from my lower abdomen, and I'm like, "Oh yeah, there IS a little person in there." It is neat reading week-by-week about how big it is getting and what it looks like now. A girl on my message board had her baby last week (on my birthday no less) and posted pictures, and I'm thinking "Aww, I want one of those!" Then I think about all the stuff I need to do between now and the end of March, and I feel sick to my stomach. :-P

Next month is another ultrasound, and that should be pretty neat!

This weekend Joe was "off" (which in boarding school terms means he worked till 4pm on Saturday and then had no duties till this morning). His mom's birthday is this week, so we brought a cake over on Sunday to celebrate. Originally I was going to bake one, but this cold has had me feeling even more off. So instead, we pulled out the frozen leftover chocolate raspberry truffle cake from our wedding, thawed it, and brought that. Thus committing some kind of wedding-related mortal sin, since you know we were supposed to save it till our first anniversary or some nonsense. ;-) Joe's mom seemed thrilled with it and it was delicious, so I'm glad we brought it.

Today it is Monday again and we're all back to the grind. Weekends pass so quickly now, but I think it feels that way because at best, the "weekend" for Joe is one day plus the evening before. But this is life at boarding school, and we are making the most of it. :-) Time is passing so quickly lately; pregnancy has me measuring my life in weeks, and the weeks are so busy that you blink and another one has gone by. There are only 3 weeks now until fall break, and it will be here before we know it!
