Small Amusements

One of Joe's co-workers (drunk at the time) picked on us last week as I was getting ready to leave for the night. "The students are gone!" he said, along with a phrase I'll not repeat (though it was amusing), the basic gist of which was that we don't have to act like good role models anymore.

Over the weekend, I moved out of my apartment and into Joe's. (Joe, subsequently, is sleeping at his parents' for the next couple of weeks.) Most of my co-workers, when I mentioned this, were surprised to find out that we were not living together already.

I guess I should not really be surprised by these things, that is how the world is. Perhaps it does amuse me when reality checks remind me of how hopelessly old-fashioned and backward we are. ;-)

Do people look back in 20 years and think "Boy, I wish we had lived together before we got married?" Maybe they do... how does that sentence end? "I wish we had lived together before we got married because it would have made our marriage better?" Or, "I wish we had lived together before we got married because then I would never have married him?" And how many out there say the opposite, "I wish we had never lived together before we got married?"
