Probably for the same reason I haven't redesigned this site in 4 years. I just can't tell you what that reason is.
Surgery went well. Everyone that reads this probably already knows that anyway. The doctor said the cartilage in the joint was inflamed but not torn. He cleaned something out and took lots of pictures for Dr. Bone, and I'm definitely going to need the osteotomy. We'll probably be looking at that over the summer; I still need to make an appointment to see Dr. Bone again and go over everything. Anyway, surgery itself wasn't as scary as I expected. The IV didn't have to go in my hand after all, it ended up in the crook of my elbow where the best vein is. I haven't had a lot of pain, hardly needed the pain pills at all, spent 3 weeks on crutches, 2 weeks out of work, and now I'm almost walking normally again. Joe gave up his vacation to take wonderful care of me, God bless him. It was really boring being stuck at home, but Locke and Jason came to visit, and we went to Joe's parents' a lot, and we did manage to get out a bit even if it wasn't as much as we normally would. We even went to the mall a couple of times and rented a wheelchair. :-) So all in all, not a bad experience.
Interesting things I've eaten over the past 3 weeks:
- cinnamon sugar pretzels from Auntie Anne's
- a toasted ham and cheddar sandwich with apple slices (really good!) at Butterwood, which was of course followed by a decadent chocolate and raspberry dessert (I heart Butterwood)
- a cheesecake and carrot cake combination ("harvest torte") at Shanghai Red's, perfect ending to a dinner of salmon (fish! I eat FISH now!)
- a bacon cheesburger where the cheese and bacon were inside the burger ("insider burger") at Tantalus
- a casserole made of tuna, noodles, mixed vegetables, and Velveeta at Joe's parents' (this was surprisingly good) :-)
Joe spoils me. We go out to eat way too much. ;-) Oh -- and Locke came over and made me dinner, and brought strawberry Nesquik.
(Um... it must be almost lunchtime eh?)
