In honor of the opening of the NHL season, I will now relate a story from last week.
So, Joe, who as everyone knows is a big hockey fan, was so mad about their strike that he's been saying for the past year that we're not going to any hockey games this season. "They took a year off, now I'm taking a year off. They want to be idiots, they're not getting any money from me this season." He says this to anyone who so much as mentions hockey in his presence.
Last week we are driving around in the city looking for someplace to eat, and notice that people are flocking to the arena. "What's going on there?" he asks.
"Well," I reply, noticing the large number of Sabres sweaters, "it appears that there's a hockey game."
"It's at home? I thought it was in Ottawa!" He begins to get frustrated. He begins to get fidgety. "Well, I did just get paid today..." he says. "And we don't have anything else to do..."
"You're weak," I tell him. "You've been anti-hockey for a year and at the first test you fail. Weak!"
He grins and buys us 2 tickets to the preseason game.
Sabres lost, but we saw a couple of fights and picked on the other team's goalie. And I was weak too, I let Joe talk me into ice cream. It was fun though. :)
