2 Bits

1. Should have noted in the Potter post that Joe has never read the books, and his "prediction" came up, I believe, sometime around the last time that we watched The Empire Strikes Back.

2. Anti-Potter fanatics remind me of anti-Catholic fanatics, in that they consider themselves to be experts on the subject matter, even though they've never actually read it (or studied it from its own point of view), but have read a lot of the propaganda from the opposing side. Plus, they don't listen when you patiently try to explain to them that their "facts" are incorrect.

For example:
Anti-Potter Fanatic: Harry Potter promotes wicca and the occult!
Potter Supporter: Actually Harry Potter has nothing to do with wicca and the occult, it is a fantasy story about good vs. evil. It is a FAIRY TALE.
APF: But the kids go to Hogwarts School of WITCHCRAFT! That's wicca!
PS: No it's not. The author doesn't mean "witchcraft" in the same sense, in Potter's world "witch" simply refers to someone with special magical talents. It is fiction.
APF: But it says WITCH!!!!!

Anti-Catholic Fanatic: Catholics worship Mary!
Catholic: No we don't. We worship God. We honor Mary as the Mother of Jesus, one of God's humblest servants.
ACF: But you pray to Mary!
C: We pray for her intercession. We ask her to pray for us.
ACF: You pray to her! That's WORSHIP!!!!!
